Botanical not chemical
Our approach to bug protection is to blend in and hide within their environment rather than use man-made chemicals to repel.
Our approach to bug protection is to blend in and hide within their environment rather than use man-made chemicals to repel.
The Vanilla Mozi concept is based on Biomimicry; mimicking Mother Nature’s processes. Using the scent of flowers to communicate with bugs and effectively hide from them rather than go to war with them. We believe the way to live in harmony with the bug world is to blend into their environment and speak their language rather than simply repelling them with toxic chemicals.
Basically, we have created a unique scent that bugs are familiar with and clearly signals to them, “This human is not a food source. Move along – nothing to see here guys!”. We didn’t want to create another mosquito repellent, we wanted to create something even better – Natural Bug Protection.
In addition to this, our Bite-Proof Body Cream is designed to function within the moisturising layer of our skin, and what the latest scientific studies show is crucial in understanding what makes humans attractive to bugs. Unlike traditional insect repellents, our Bite-Proof Body Cream nourishes your skin while it protects.
It’s this sophisticated botanical approach to bug protection, as opposed to the chemical processes of insect repellents, that allows us to create a much more aesthetically pleasing and healthy product for human use. Work smarter not harder. Use communication not aggression. Make love not war! đź’š
There is a symbiotic relationship between bugs and botanicals. Flowers attract many bugs to potentially assist with pollination, and botanical nectar is a key food source for many types of bugs. Overall we can say that bugs are very tuned in to the complexities of botanical scents and Lea-Anne, our founder has created a unique blend that broadcasts a very distinct message in the language of ‘bug botanics’.
“Scientists say that nectar is one of the crucial food sources for all species of mosquitoes. Indeed, for male mosquitoes, it is the only source of food, while female mosquitoes also feed exclusively on nectar for all but a few days of their life cycle when they are laying their eggs” says Dr. Liji Thomas. >>> click here for more
“Flowers use colour and scent to draw in specific insects. Scents are very complex and made of many compounds that insects can differentiate from. We often describe ‘scent’ as if it’s one thing – like the scent of a flower, or the scent of a person,” said Riffell, a Professor of Biology at the University of Washington. “Scent is actually a complex combination of chemicals – the scent of a rose consists of more than 300 – and mosquitoes can detect the individual types of chemicals that make up a scent.” >>> click here for more
Also according to Riffell, mosquitoes are not drawn to ALL flowers. Some flowers have varying levels of chemical compounds in their scent that mosquitoes are NOT attracted to. The mosquitoes then deem these flowers as NOT a food source.
“Mosquitoes are processing the ratio of chemicals, not just the presence or absence of them,” said Riffell. “This isn’t just important for flower discrimination – it’s also important for how mosquitoes discern between you and I. Human scent is very complex, and what is probably important for attracting or repelling mosquitoes is the ratio of particular chemicals. We know that some people get bit more than others, and maybe a difference in ratio explains why.” >>> click here for more
Vanilla Mozi has created a unique flower based propriety blend of fragrances that have no interest to mosquitos offering protection from bugs. Vanilla Mozi does not repel mosquitos nor does it contain any ingredients found in common insect repellents.
Vanilla Mozi is the only bug protection product designed to function in the moisturising layer of our skin. It’s mosquito protection, only natural.
SHOP NOWThe latest scientific research reinforces the methodology behind Vanilla Mozi’s Bite-Proof Body Cream, that bugs and mosquitoes in particular are attracted to us because of our scent. Studies show mosquitoes are specifically attracted to carboxylic acids which are a key part of our skin’s natural moisturiser layer and help to make up our human odour profile. Humans release carboxylic acids at much higher levels than most animals explaining why mosquitos are so attracted to us. Some of us produce more than others which is why some people are such mosquito magnets.
Vanilla Mozi is truly unique in that it’s the only bug protection product designed to function within this moisturising layer of our skin and mask our human odour profile into a botanical scent that mosquitoes are familiar with and instinctively avoid. But the best part is this is not occurring via a synthetic chemical process, Vanilla Mozi harnesses a beautifully wholesome process by utilising organic waxes and butters that Mother Nature has created naturally and are healthy and nourishing for our skin. >>> click here for more
